Faction Changes Overview

Most Targaryen units and Attachments have been performing as we’ve expected. The Faction’s major changes were a consequence of the changes to General Abilities more than to specific units.

We’ve listed all the changes below by category to help you out.

General Ability Changes:

  • Barristan Selmy, The Bold: Changes to Knightly Vow.
  • Belwas, The Strong: Changes to Hardened.
  • Dothraki Hrakkars: Changes to Outflank.
  • Drogo’s Bloodriders: Changes to War Cry. (Other changes below)
  • Khal Drogo, The Great Khal: Changes to Expert Duelist.
  • Marselen, Mother’s Men Commander: Changes to the War Cry Tactics Card.
  • Unsullied Officer: Changes to Relentless. (Other changes below)

Points Costs Changes:

  • Unsullied Officer dropped from 3 to 2 points.

With the changes to Relentless, the Unsullied Officer can drop a point.

  • Drogon dropped from 8 to 7 points.
  • Rhaegal dropped from 8 to 7 points.
  • Viserion dropped from 8 to 7 points.

The Juvenile Dragons were not performing as 8 points units should. But we are very happy with how they are stats and ability-wise. By dropping them to 7, points we expect to see more individual dragons on the battlefield as well more Mother of Dragon lists.

Specific Ability Changes:

  • Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons: Removed Heir of House Targaryen ability.

In a list where players focus on having more dragons, Daenerys was always a very vulnerable target. This change will allow her to be placed in more units.

  • Drogo’s Bloodriders: Added Bloodrider Ability.

This is a quality-of-life adjustment.

  • Targaryen Tactics Deck: Changes to Field Control Tactics card.

Completely removing the zone’s effect from the benefit of your opponent when they claimed it was too severe. We’ve changed the second half of the card so you may perform a 3” shift after your opponent resolves the zone’s effect. The unit performing the shift does not become Weakened anymore. This change will be an improvement for both Targaryen players and their opponents.

Bannermen! We’ve come to the end of this Visions in the Flames and we expect that the changes to the Targaryens will have little impact on how they are currently being played and fielded, with mostly improvements to units that might not have been fielded as often as players wished.
