Organized Play News: Taking the Field in 2023

Bannermen from across the realm, it is time to make a few announcements regarding the ASOIAF:TMG Organized Play and US Competitive Play in 2023!

Events and in-person meet ups are roaring back to life, and this year, we intend to make the US National Tournament bigger than it has ever been! It is truly something we have been looking forward to for many years, and we are so excited to see the competitive scene blossoming!

Now, without further ado, let’s get into the details:

US National Championship

US Finals will be held in Gamezenter, Minneapolis, Minnesota on September 15th-17th. More information about the event will come soon and we will let everyone know when tickets are live. More information about Gamezenter can be found HERE.

There are 4 ways to qualify to play on the National Tournament:

  • Finish among the top 8 players at any ASOIAF:TMG Tournaments held by Frontline Gaming BEFORE August 31st, 2023. We’ve already had 2, the Las Vegas Open and the Cherokee Open, and more will follow. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements. (Frontline Gaming Events AFTER August 31st, 2023, will award the same entries to the CMON Expo 2024 and the US National Championship 2024.)
  • Finish among the top 4 players in any of the 6 Regional Qualifiers at Retail Stores across the US from April to August. (If you are a store and want to sign up to hold a Regional Qualifier, reach out to [email protected] before the end of March).
  • Finish among the top 8 players in the Super Regional Tournament that will be held during the Days of Ice & Fire event in April (more info about that here).
  • And finally, finish in the top 4 at Adepticon (more info about that here).

Qualifying in any of these events will grant you a seat at the National US Finals and paid entry to the event + Tournament fee. There may, however, be additional limited open tournament seats available on a first-come, first served basis in the final weeks leading up to the Finals (September 15th – 17th, 2023).

Finally, we are happy to award the first 2023 US National championship seat to Luke Hartman, our 2022 US National Champion. This year, we do not intend to have byes in the Final Tournament.

The current Tournament rules can be found here.

We look forward to an exciting 2023 Competitive season in the US with more announcements soon to come about National Championship events around the world.

EU Championships

We are currently working to find appropriate hosts for National Championship events in EU countries.

Any clubs or game organizations that would be interested in organizing National Championship events in their home country, please reach out to [email protected] with information about your group, as we would be happy to add more Championship tournaments to the competitive schedule for 2023.

That’s all for now. Grab your armies and fight for the Iron Throne and you could find yourself at the Finals! Until then, Bannermen!
